biography

Brigitte Polemis was born in Damascus, Syria, to a Lebanese father and a Polish mother. She grew up in Lebanon, Greece and Cyprus, and then moved to New York at the age of 17 to star her career as a fashion designer. She completed her studies at FIT, NY and worked for various design labels. In 1992 she moved to London to explore Fine Art where she studied and the Chelsea School of Art. Having settled in Greece from 2003, Brigitte also helped create the new jewelry label called ‘Pink Powder’.

critics

“Polemis approaches art in a very hand – on fashion – quite literally. She moulds and sculpts her paints on the canvas with her hands and revels in the iconoclastic and rather free approach. The results often vast areas of pure colour, cloud-fields and impossible skyscapes with tangible, textured surface where you can see the work of the fans of her fingers – like angels’ wings seen through a mist.”
